I've had this Xerox Phaser 8560 for years and have been using it with Snow Leopard without issue. Upon recent update to 10.6.3 (from 10.6.2) I am now having issues where one print will be fine, but then another separate print will just come out as data/numbers/multiple useless pages. It's oddly inconsistent and it does not matter which program I am printing from. I have removed/added the printer; completed restarts; checked printer firmware; reset printing system; etc. Anyone else having any 8560 issues?
Yep, I was printing a brochure before the update completed the update because I'm an update tool and then the brochure wouldn't print correctly anymore. I contacted Xerox and they've sent me straight to level 2 because we couldn't solve the problem. We discussed reverting back to the 4.7 firmware version, but I cannot figure out how to do it because my printer is now saying that its tcp address is 0.0.0.0 and that's not working for the methods of loading the firmware file (browser or ftp).

Which makes me wonder if its a tcp address issue? I'm just not techy enough to noodle that out (for the record, I am connected straight to printer from iMac via USB 2.0). Here is something that works. The last 30 minutes or so. Based on several long chats with Apple reps and all sorts of tries.
The short version is: Re-install Snow Leopard 10.6, and then go back to 10.6.2. We’ve done it to two iMacs and it seems to be working. Note: 8560 connected via USB to one machine and “shared” with a second iMac. How to: First, turn off automatic updates. Applesystem preferencessoftware update.
That’s to keep you from automatically upgrading to 10.6.3 in the future until Xerox/Apple fix this problem. Install Snow Leopard from CD.
Check to see if it worked. On one of our machines we had to boot off the CD to get 10.6 to re-install.

On the other machine we did not have to boot off the CD. Lots of whirring and buzzing here ? Upgrade to 10.6.2. Download is here: Delete, then add back the 8560 printer: Applesystem preferencesprint and fax click printer, hit minus, delete, then add back. Not sure this in needed, but won't hurt. You might need to flush the printer’s RAM as well. Can do that from the panel on the front of the printer.
Not sure this make any difference, but can't hurt. We’ve also had a problem with printer taking itself offline, but don’t know if this is a related problem or not.
Thanks to Andrew at Apple support for reminding me how to boot off the CD. Entourage no more: a look at outlook 2011 for mac. Hope this works.
Please remember I am not a Mac expert. Just a guy who’s trying to figure out this problem.
You may want to talk to Apple yourself first before trying this. Message was edited by: ltcjcw. Free cute furry monster icons for macbook. I appreciate ltcjcw's post and will look forward to hearing how it works out (I imagine that it would work fine). In the interest of struggling on (and in case Xerox or Apple bothers to read this post) I'll continue with my notes: 1.
I downloaded and installed the 10.6.3 combo update. Had an improvement at first, but appears to be a fluke.
I continue to be able to manually wake the printer from sleep and get a 'good' print, but anything that follows that print will be data/ps info. I can then manually restart the printer and get another 'good' print. Sometimes more than one. Overall, 10.6.3 combo update did nothing to improve performance of printer or irregularity of printing.
